As of May 1st we will have a new yoga studio, Ananda Yoga Lander. We will be behind Old Town Coffee Shop at 145 N. 3rd St. (where Rusk, the men's clothing store, previously was.) We are excited to bring in teachers from the old studio as well as introduce new teachers to the community.
Our schedule for May is set. We will be ready to open doors and begin classes as of Tuesday, May 1st! Please see our Schedule and Class Description pages for more details. Check out our Specials page for our Grand Opening Special!
Our website is currently under construction. We are in the process of adding classes and making things just right to fit the needs and desires of our community. May schedule is set, but look for new classes coming in June and later this summer and fall. Thank you for your patience as we get started.
Ananda is the sanskrit word for bliss. It is a blissful, peaceful happiness. Ananda is also one of the Buddha’s most valued disciples. From wikipedia: "Ānanda had the most retentive memory and most of the suttas in the Sutta Pitaka are attributed to his recollection of the Buddha's teachings during the First Buddhist Council. For that, he was known as the Guardian of the Dharma. ...a man who is kindly, unselfish, popular, and thoughtful toward others."
Mission Statement We, at Ananda Yoga Lander, strive to bring competent yoga instruction, compassion, and awareness to our community to the best of our abilities in a form true to each of our own natures in the hope of bringing further awareness to our own inner bliss that we each already possess.
Namaste, Ananda Yoga Lander
"Yoga is really trying to liberate us from ... shame about our bodies. To love your body is a very important thing -- I think the health of your mind depends on your being able to love your body." -Rodney Yee
"Basketball is an endurance sport, and you have to learn to control your breath; that's the essence of yoga, too. So, I consciously began using yoga techniques in my practice and playing. I think yoga helped reduce the number and severity of injuries I suffered. As preventative medicine, it's unequaled." -Kareem Abdul Jabbar
